Political Cadre Development Program (PCDP): Democratic Devolution and Local Governance for Multiparty Political Cadre: Training Held in Okara

Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness (SFEA) in collaboration with Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Pakistan organized a three-day Political Cadre Development Program (PCDP) training on the topic of “Democratic Devolution and Local Governance” for multiparty political cadre on February 22-24, 2022 in district Okara.
The training was purposed to equip the grassroots political party workers and political influencers with essential concepts of democratic devolution, 18th Constitutional Amendment and resulting devolved matters, local government system and other relevant topics to strengthen the political system for better democratic participation. The local leaders and representatives of political parties were oriented on the issues and challenges related to the implementation of the legal framework (i.e. implementing 18th Constitutional Amendment, role and responsibilities of Council of Common Interest, problems and way forward regarding NFC Award etc.) and challenges related to governance and their workable political solutions. It also sought to provide the political workers with practical tools to implement the training lessons, especially with regard to social stakeholder management, such as press relations, community mobilization, and local governance.
The training was attended by as many as 35 participants from diverse fields. These included district and tehsil level political workers and office-bearers from all major political parties along with members of bar councils and media. The participants actively engaged in all activities and enthusiastically participated in the interactive sessions. They appreciated the joint venture by HSF Pakistan and SFEA and vowed to disseminate the learnings from the training to their respective political parties and social circles.
